Three easy ways to get started with aromatherapy

Aromatherapy incenseAromatherapy is one of those things that I’ve always been drawn to, but have never taken the time to explore in depth. Recently, I’ve been experimenting more with incense, scented candles and essential oils, and I’ve been so pleased to discover all the benefits that come with each one.

For one, infusing your space with a lovely smell like lavender or wood sage can do wonders for its atmosphere and vibe. Even if your guests don’t notice it right away, they’ll definitely feel more relaxed and calm as soon as they set foot in your home.

To me, no get-together is complete without scented candles or incense. Fragrance can bring so much extra comfort and joy to a space as well as the people in it.

Aromatherapy has so many benefits like relaxation, a deeper sleep and increased energy, and the best part is that it’s so easy to get started! There are tons of ways to start experimenting with different fragrances, but check out a few of my favourites below:

1. Incense

I only recently started to experiment with incense, and I already can’t live without it. It gives the air such a smoky, magical quality and it smells otherworldly. I like wood scented incense, but I can’t wait to try other fragrances!

2. Room/pillow spray

One thing I can’t live without in my bedroom is linen, room or pillow spray. I always buy a couple bottles of spray when I visit a lavender farm — it brings such a calm feeling to the room and really helps with my sleep.

3. Essential oils

In case you missed it, I just wrote a post on my experiences with grapefruit essential oil. Since I started using it, I’ve really noticed a difference in my mood on days when I take a whiff of my grapefruit oil — I feel happier, more energetic and generally more positive.
