Things to Stop Worrying About Right Now

Worrying can be a super helpful and healthy emotion. It can let you know that there’s a threat nearby that you need to take care of, or it can kick you into high gear so you can take the next step in your career or love life.

But there are definitely times when it can become too much. We’ve all been stuck in negative thought patterns that we wish we could snap out of, but the same worries are on repeat in our minds.

I find that sometimes it’s as simple as identifying what you want to let go of, whether it’s anger or fear, and releasing it on your exhale. Inhale love and light, exhale fear, anxiety, sadness and anger.

For me, this really works when the emotion is unnecessary. If you know that there’s truly no reason to worry, then your releasing process will come much more easily. Below are some things that you can definitely let go of RIGHT NOW to make your life much more simple and light:

  1. Caring about what other people think. Other people just want what you want: to be loved and accepted. And when you can love and accept other people for what they are, they will do the same for you. At the end of the day, only you have to live your life, so it makes much more sense to do what makes you happy than what makes someone else happy.
  2. Busy work. Do you ever find yourself dragging yourself to your computer to complete a task that you reaaaally don’t want to do, but you think you have to? Next time, stop and think about whether or not what you’re about to do is absolutely necessary. If it is, then you should feel more motivated to do it, and if it isn’t, then let it gooooo.
  3. Dwelling on past or future events. I totally fall into this ego trap all the time, and I often have to remind myself that the present is truly all that is. The past and the future are just abstract concepts that live in our minds — they are not real! When you’re worrying about the past or the future, you’re only worrying about a story that you’ve convinced yourself is true.
