How to Cleanse Yourself of Negativity for the New Month

It’s May first, loves! Nothing makes me happier than the beginning of a new month, especially when it’s during one of the most gorgeous times of the year: spring.

This is such an amazing time for rebirth, renewal and detoxification, and getting rid of things that no longer serve us. Life can be challenging sometimes, and often I’ll find myself falling into the same negative thought patterns I’ve always held in my consciousness.

Whether it’s your own negativity permeating your mind space or the thoughts and opinions of others, it really doesn’t matter. As soon as you find those thoughts creeping in, all you have to do is become conscious of them and they lose their power altogether. 

Your mind will do anything to hold onto these thought patterns, so it’s your job to say no and stop the thought before it becomes a monster. Personally, my ego will always try to keep the negative thoughts in circulation by saying, “well, what if it’s true? What if you really do suck and everyone hates you, shouldn’t you do something about that?”

Don’t listen to thoughts like these, either! Even if a crazy, inaccurate blanket statement like this were true, do you think you’ll get it to change by continuing to believe in it and give it your energy?

Moving into spring, I’m focusing on letting go of thoughts that don’t serve me and choosing to give my energy to thoughts that are uplifting and positive. Your thoughts and emotions create your reality and your experience, so choosing to focus on positive thoughts will help you look forward to the future while you enjoy the present.

And isn’t that what it’s all about?

Balancing the beauty and joy of the moment while looking ahead to all the good things in your future will help to keep your energy field high vibing and sparkly, and who doesn’t want that? When your vibe is high, you attract other sparkly people, situations and things into your life, giving you that much more to be grateful for.

If you’re really having trouble turning your thoughts around and releasing the bad ones, try taking an epsom salt bath, listening to a guided meditation, going for a walk in nature, or reading a book like The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Despite the insistence of your ego, no good can come from holding onto negative thoughts, and you’re only denying the joy of the present moment by dwelling on them. 

Use the freshness of this day to take stock of your inner world. What does it look like, what does it feel like? Is it dark and scary and full of turmoil, or have you taken the time to cultivate a beautiful garden full of self love and kindness?

Set aside time during your day to manage your own energy. Others will try to step in and take control of your energy by making you wrong or criticizing you, but if you remain strong and confident in your positivity by working on it daily, no one can shake you.

  1. Being a sensitive person, I need to frequently pay attention to my toughts, because they can become negative if I don’t care about them. As you say, as soon as you realize that those undesired thoughts are in your mind, all you have to do is become conscious of them and they immediatly lose a big part of their power. Afterwards, I try my best to transform those negative thoughts into beautiful toughts of self love, kindness and gratitude. This keeps my vibes high and positive.
    I love your idea about the epsom salt bath that I will try for sure in the next few days (this sounds like a beautiful mermaid ritual, perfect for the beginning of May 😉)! Another thing that helps keep my toughts uplifted and positive is to read self-development books or websites (like yours!).
