Hey, hi, hello, readers! So I haven’t blogged for two months (where does the time go?) so I guess now is as good a time as any to break the ice with a post about my recent experiences with reiki healing.
Reiki has been on my mind for quite a while now. At one point, I even wanted to enrol in a training session to become a reiki healer myself, but decided on yoga training instead.
If you aren’t familiar with reiki, it’s basically a Japanese energy healing art. It can be used to reduce stress, anxiety or energy blocks through the transfer of life force or source energy from one person (the healer) to another. In a reiki session, the client lies down on a table and relaxes, while the healer passes life force energy through their hands into each chakra or a certain area of the energetic body.
It may sound weird or woo-woo, and okay, maybe it is if you’re not into that sort of thing, but the healing art has been practiced for a long time, and it’s still popular today. After feeling the warm touch of a reiki healer in a yoga class a couple of weeks ago, I knew I had to try another session to dive deeper into this beautiful practice.
I booked a 60 minute clarity session plus a 30 minute reiki session at the Rock Store and headed there not knowing quite what to expect. The clarity session was a lot easier and more comfortable than I had expected: we started by deep breathing, getting grounded and setting intentions, then I was asked a series of questions about what is and isn’t working in my life, what I want to change, and what’s been holding me back.
It was so refreshing to be vulnerable and voice my thoughts to someone I had never met before, even though I thought it would be the opposite. I felt so calm and self-assured, and I think I really broke through some personal barriers during the session.
Then, we did a mini reiki healing session. I got comfortable on the healing table, and my practitioner moved her hands over my throat and crown chakra.
I could actually feel the warm energy radiating from her hands into my head and neck, which was so crazy to me because she only ever touched my head. I had the sensation of my neck elongating and my head being pulled away from my shoulders, which was eerie but also kinda cool!
After the session, she recommended a couple of crystals for me to promote feelings of security and calm. I got an amazonite bracelet and a selenite wand, which I’ve wanted for a while because it can be used to erase negativity and worry from your auric field. I also just love the name, which comes from the Greek goddess of the moon, Selene.
Two days after the session, I still feel so calm, centred and positive. I’ll definitely be going back for more.
